Tragic Fire in Charlotte Apartment Complex Kills Two

Multiple Structures Affected, Investigation Underway

Charlotte, NC - A massive fire tore through an apartment complex under construction in Charlotte's South Park neighborhood on Thursday morning, killing two people. The fire, which reached five alarms, spread across at least two structures and threatened others before firefighters were able to bring the bulk of the flames under control.

City officials confirmed that two individuals lost their lives in the blaze, which sent plumes of smoke into the air. "Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of the victims," said Charlotte Fire Chief Reginald Johnson. "We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Firefighters remained on the scene throughout Thursday to extinguish any remaining embers and conduct a thorough investigation.
